CANDIDATES FORUM AND POTLUCK
You are invited to a Candidates Forum for candidates of all parties at the Committee on Aging Building in Spencer on Thursday, October 18.
The purpose of the forum is to give people a chance to get to know the candidates and their views, and to create a positive spirit of solving problems together.
Nine candidates have committed to either attend or send a representative, including Senator Joe Manchin and Talley Sergent, candidate for U.S. Congress.
Candidates will have time to make a statement and the audience will be encouraged to ask questions.
Elections often mean sound bites and polarized politics, but this event aims to create a spirit of thoughtful consideration of issues and a means for finding solutions.
Riley Keaton will be the master of ceremonies. The doors will open at 5 p.m. The potluck dinner will start at 5:30, and the candidates will begin speaking at 6:30 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public. Come, have dinner and let your elected officials and candidates know what’s on your mind. Remember, democracy is a participation sport.
