On Tuesday, October 20 at 6 p.m. the local chapter of the Citizens' Climate Lobby presents Merchants of Doubt as part of the WV International Fall Film Festival. The documentary draws parallels between early public relations campaigns in defense of the tobacco industry, and the ongoing PR orchestration of climate change denial. This film will rock your world!
Hey WV — Take Action for Racial Justice
November 3: Take Action for Racial Justice 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Wilson Student Union WV State University Take Action for Racial Justice will be an opportunity to join a team that is working on a racial justice issue, such as reducing racial disparities in arrests in Charleston, Second Chance Employment Act + Let Me Drive, Let Me Work (both criminal justice reforms), juvenile justice reform, West Side/East End reinvestment, and racial justice dialogue and education.
Winds of Change, Fall 2015
On June 15, we held our first forum on the Rogersville Shale in Huntington. About 200 people attended. WV Public Radio and TV stations WSAZ and WOWK aired stories on the forum.
Registration Open for Free Job Training Program
Registration is now open for the Quality Environmental Jobs Initiative, which provides courses in environmental remediation. The training program is free of charge and open to the general public. Laid-off coal miners, veterans and unemployed young adults are especially encouraged to apply.

Lawsuit Launched to Protect Threatened Bat From Two West Virginia Coal Mines
The Center for Biological Diversity, Coal River Mountain Watch, the Ohio Valley Environmental Coalition, and the Sierra Club filed a formal notice of intent to sue the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service today for their failure to protect threatened northern long-eared bats at two proposed mountaintop-removal coal mines in West Virginia.
