Source Water Protection Plans: Have Your Say
The law requires most of the state's public water systems to write up Source Water Protection Plans (SWPPs) by July 1, 2016. The water utilities are required to encourage public participation in creating the plans. We're encouraging you to get involved, too.
Open Letter to Honduran President On the Murder of Berta Cáceres
Global Witness drafted a letter to President Hernández of Honduras, asking for an immediate and thorough investigation and guaranteed protection for the family and colleagues of Berta Cáceres. More than 50 organizations have signed on to the letter.

March 15: 6 - 8 p.m. Meadow Bridge Fire Station, located at 8958 Sewell Creek Road, (Route 20), Meadow Bridge, Fayette County, WV. The DEP's will hold a public meeting to provide information regarding Mountain Valley Pipeline’s air quality permit application for the Stallworth Compressor Station.

Written comments or requests for a public meeting must be received by the DAQ before 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2016. A public meeting may be held if the Director of the DAQ determines that significant public interest has been expressed, in writing, or when the Director deems it appropriate.

Coal has been mined from Boone County, WV for over 100 years. Mountaintop removal mining (MTR) has increased dramatically since the 1970’s and may account for ˃30 per cent of West Virginia’s coal. For people who live nearby, airborne particulate matter (PM) may present a health hazard.

Lawsuit Launched Over Federal Authorization of Widespread Destruction of Protected Bat’s Habitat
Four conservation groups today filed a formal notice of intent to sue the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for authorizing logging and widespread destruction of habitat for northern long-eared bats, which are protected under the Endangered Species Act.

Call Now! SB 508 Takes Away Citizens’ Right to Sue Over Drilling Impacts
SB 508 undermines the law hundreds of West Virginians have used to file suit against the oil and gas companies whose activities have negatively affected their quality and way of life, making it virtually impossible for other affected residents to bring similar suits in the future. Bringing this type of legal action is the only recourse many people have. We can't let the Legislature take this right away. Please contact members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and your Senators and tell them to oppose SB 508 and preserve our right to bring nuisance suits.
