Farmers Join Cowboy & Indian Alliance to Plant “Seeds of Resistance” along path of Atlantic Coast & Mountain Valley Pipelines
You are cordially invited to a gathering in Monroe County on Wednesday, June 8 at 9 a.m., during which sacred Indian Ponca corn will be planted in resistance to the MVP pipeline. This landmark event will take place at Patricia A. “Cookie” Cole’s Blue Roamin’ Farm, located near the Salt Sulphur Historic District.

Hitch a Ride to Help Plant Seeds of Resistance on June 8
On June 8, come to the Seeds of Resistance Corn Planting Ceremony in Weston, WV. Help plant seeds of resistance in the paths of the proposed Atlantic Coast and Mountain Valley fracked gas pipelines. As of June 2, OVEC has space for 2-3 more people in a vehicle coming (and returning same day) on June 8 from Huntington, to Charleston and up 79 North. Public excluded from FERC meeting, while industry reps are “invited guests”
FERC commissioners closed their regularly scheduled May 19 meeting to the public due to "security concerns," with just 16 hours' notice. They then held their meeting with members of the press and "invited guests," some of whom were representatives of the fossil fuel industry FERC is supposed to regulate.

Mountain Valley Pipeline Would Impose $Billions in Costs on Local People, Communities, According to New Research
A new study by Charlottesville-based Key-Log Economics (“Economic Costs of the Mountain Valley Pipeline: Effects on Property Value, Ecosystem Services, and Economic Development in Virginia and West Virginia”) estimates the total cost to an eight-county region in southern West Virginia and southwest Virginia to $8.0 to $8.9 billion, in present value terms.
